The following are a selection of local activities to consider when staying with us at Trinity Haven.

Cavan Town:

There is a great selection of hotels in which to enjoy an evening or afternoon meal or simply a relaxing coffee or drink. These include the Radisson Blu Farnham Hotel; the Cavan Crystal Hotel with its full selection of Cavan crystal for purchase; as well as the Kilmore Hotel and the Farnham Arms Hotel. Slightly further afield is the Crover House Hotel towards Mount Nugent with its ideal setting along the shores of Lough Sheelin; Slieve Russell Hotel in Ballyconnell, and Lough Rynne Castle Hotel in Mohill, Co. Leitrim. There are excellent pubs and restaurants in Cavan town and also in the neighbouring villages of Crossdoney, Butlersbridge and Ballinagh.

There are a variety of short walks within the vicinity of Trinity Haven and with it’s private rural location your only challenge may be the Irish weather !! Whether it is along the shores of Trinity lake, the lakes of Killykeen Forest, the grounds of the nearby Radisson Farnham Hotel, or Lough Gowna / Oughter, there are many beautiful and peaceful country views and activities from which to choose. Alternatively why not visit the local Tourist Office now located in Cavan Town Library or check out the website Cavan Tourism for details on walking trails in the county.

For Golfers:

Cavan has a magnificient selection of courses, for example: the new Radisson Golf Club is less than 10 minutes drive, Cavan Golf Club is less than 15 minutes drive and the Slieve Russell Golf and Country Club is only 30 minutes away. For those seeking the less professional challenge McSeain’s Pitch ‘n’ Putt (Tel: 049 433 7138) in Cornafaen is an 18-hole par 3 to par 4 course worthy of a visit and very reasonably priced. It is only 15 minutes drive to Cornafaen.

For Children:

Killinkere Visitor Farm is situated in Lisnagirl, Killinkere halfway between Virginia and Bailieborough in Co Cavan featuring Llamas, Miniature Horses, Chin Chulas, Guinea Pigs, Deer, Rare Birds, Fowl and more! Cavan Leisure Centre , Drumalee, Cavan Phone: +353 (0)49 43 62888 is only 6km away. It has a 25m L-shaped pool, steamroom, jacuzzi, sauna, and fitness suite. Indoor Play Centre, Koolkids , Ballinagh Road, Cavan, caters for the young who can burn off their energy by playing on the huge play area and parents can de-stress with some delicious tea and cakes. For Bowling or Cinema outing, Astra Bowl in Cavan Town is open 7 days of the week and is located beside Storm Cinema

For Water Sports / Boating:

Dotted with shimmering lakes and rivers, County Cavan is a genuine boater's paradise. The Rivers Shannon and Erne and the Shannon-Erne Waterway (the canal linking the two) provide hours of boating time through peaceful countryside with many small villages to be visited along the way. Pleasure cruising is available from Emerald Star in Belturbet, Co Cavan and from Kingfisher Boating Holidays, also in Belturbet. The Rivers Shannon and Erne are also perfect for canoeing and kayaking, providing hours of paddle time for independent canoeists. Cavan Canoe Centre, Inishmore near Butlersbridge and Killeshandra, hires out canoes and kayaks and also offers guided canoe trail adventures and instruction. Tanagh Outdoor Adventure centre in Cootehill will incorporate canoeing and kayaking into a suite of adventure activities to suit you.

For Anglers:

With angling being the No 1 leisure activity in Cavan, there are many fish filled lakes within very easy access to Trinity Haven. Trinity Lake is only a 10 minute walk, Lough Oughter a 10 minute drive, and Lough Sheelin and Lough Gowna are less than a 20 minute drive. A natural environment means natural, wild fish, including bream, roach, perch, eel, hybrids and pike.

Cavan's beautiful and rugged countryside can also be enjoyed from the saddle. For Events & Entertainment:

The arts scene is vibrant in County Cavan with a variety of local music and cultural festivals taking place throughout the year. The Caomhnú Literary Festival and Dancing in the Drumlins Set Dancing Festival take place in January while both the County Drama Festival and the NYAH Traditional Arts Festival take place annually in March. Traditional music sessions frequently take place throughout the county with the Wednesday night session in the Farnham Arms Hotel on the Main Street in Cavan town a favourite.
